Special Meeting: How should the City of Portland spend its budget surplus?

YThe City of Portland has a $62 million surplus in its budget, half of which they can spend over the next few months — it’s the Fall Budget Monitoring Process or BMP.

Yesterday, Council heard testimony from hundreds of Portlanders about how this money should be doesn’t, well into the night.

Some commissioners have released proposals for how these critical dollars should be spent.

The Portland NAACP is calling a special meeting Sunday, November 14th 6-7:30pm to discuss if our branch wants to take a formal position on how these monies are spent right now.
