The Portland NAACP branch Legal Redress Committee works to support and assist community members with various types of legal grievances and requests for resources.

The Legal Redress Committee can offer advocacy, partnership in mediation, access to information, and referrals to legal resources and social justice professionals. We do not provide legal advice or representation. We are not attorneys, and we do not employ attorneys for legal complaints. However, we can provide referrals to organizations that may be able to offer the required assistance.

If you require information and/or access to legal resources, check the list below, or submit a request via the contact form. Please note that our services are contingent upon the availability of volunteers and may not be immediately accessible.

The Legal Redress Committee shall: (1) investigate all cases reported to it; (2) supervise all litigation in which the Unit is interested; and (3) keep the National Office and the Branch informed on the progress of every case. It shall not give general legal advice.
