The Portland NAACP is hosting a series of community conversations about opportunities and challenges for several proposed projects along I-5 in Lower and Central Albina.
Our late June session discussed expected construction job opportunities, and a vision of community development, housing, cultural and education opportunities for the area.
On Sunday, 8/22, we will review jobs and development, explore historical and current planning and development processes that always favor majority white interests, and learn how community governance models can be leveraged to promote reclamation, cultural rejuvenation, and restorative justice for Black community residents.
